Every game live on FOX SPORTS, expanded free to air television coverage on ABC and SBS and never before told stories of the stars of the NBL.

They are just some of the highlights of the coverage of 40th NBL season starting tomorrow Thursday October 5 when Adelaide 36ers play Melbourne United at Titanium Security Arena.

The coverage will be spearheaded by commentators Matt Russell, Anthony Hudson, Dwayne Russell, John Casey and Lachie Reid and include some of the biggest names in Australian basketball with over 2000 games of NBL experience.

They are four-time Olympian and former NBA player Shane Heal, four-time NBL Champion Shawn Redhage, NBL Hall of Famer Steve Carfino, 2010 NBL MVP Corey Williams, former NBL stars Cam Tregardh and James Harvey, former Sydney Kings captain Brad Rosen and dual NBL Champion Tommy Greer.

They will be joined courtside by Neroli Meadows, Abbey Gelmi, Alissa Smith and Jo Healy who will bring you all the latest news as it happens.

All 112 games and finals will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS 503 with the NBL to also launch a new pre-game show at 5pm on Saturdays during the season.

Free to air TV coverage will triple this season with two games a week shown live on SBS Viceland at 5.30pm on Saturday and SBS at 3pm on Sunday.  The ABC will also broadcast Friday night games at 11pm during the season.

NBL Chief Executive Jeremy Loeliger said coverage of the NBL would be bigger and better than any time in its history.

“This is a great endorsement of the strength of the NBL,” he said. “Fans are the big winners as we head into our 40th season and what promises to be the biggest and most exciting season in the NBL.

“As well as showing every game live on FOX SPORTS and tripling our free to air coverage on SBS and the ABC, we will profile the undisputed stars of the NBL, the players.

“There’s never been a better time for Australian basketball. This week the Sydney Kings became the first NBL team to play in the NBA pre-season when they played Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.

“This will be followed by Melbourne United v Oklahoma City Thunder in Oklahoma on October 8and Brisbane Bullets v Phoenix Suns in Phoenix on October 13. This is a great way to start what should be a memorable season.”
