HAWKS RAIN ON KINGS’ PARADE

Jerome Randle was back and so were the Sydney Kings – at least for three quarters.

The Illawarra Hawks stunned Sydney as they erased a 16-point final break lead to force overtime and steal a dramatic four-point win at the Sandpit.

Four consecutive missed free-throws from enigmatic King Jeremy Tyler and three-point daggers from Rotnei Clarke and Demitris Conger gave the 97-93 win to the Hawks in the extra period.

AJ Ogilvy (19 points, nine rebounds), Clarke (19 points, six assists) and Conger (16 points, seven rebounds) all took leading roles in overturning the deficit.

Randle (28 points, nine rebounds and five assists) was unfazed by the frosty reception dealt to him by the Illawarra fans as last season’s MVP picked up where he left off in his return game.

Randle will now face his former team in Adelaide on Saturday night. Illawarra will look to extend its win streak to five when it faces Cairns in the second game of Saturday night’s double header.
