BULLETS SHOOT DOWN THE BREAKERS

The Brisbane Bullets have caused one of the biggest upsets of the NBL season with a stunning five point win over ladder leaders New Zealand.

The home side found the recipe for defensive success and overcame their fourth quarter woes to record a 81-76 victory and end NZ's five-game stranglehold over the Bullets.

The Bullets entered the final period with a 10 point lead. But Reuben Te Rangi (11 points) steadied any would-be Bullets nerves with some steady outside shooting while Perrin Buford continued his outstanding season with 18 points of his own.

Breakers imports DJ Newbill and Edgar Sosa did their fair share of damage for the visitors with 21 and 18 points respectively, but ultimately couldn’t unlock the stifling Brisbane defence consistently enough to avoid a second successive defeat.

Round Eight of the Hungry Jack’s NBL Season wraps up tomorrow night when Melbourne and Illawarra face-off at Hisense Arena at 7.30pm. The game will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS 503.
