GOULDING INJURED AS MELBOURNE FALLS TO ILLAWARRA
  
 
Melbourne United star Chris Goulding will enter the NBL finals under an injury cloud after injuring his ankle in today's final round game against the Illawarra Hawks at Hisense Arena.

Illawarra inflicted a rare loss on Melbourne, 94-84, in a game that had no bearing on the home side's top spot on the Hungry Jack's NBL Ladder.

But it was an ankle injury to Goulding that was the biggest talking point after he was forced from the court in the third quarter and did not take any further part in the game.

In Goulding's favour, Melbourne will have a week off before playing either New Zealand or Perth in the semi- finals series starting on March 3. However, he will be in serious doubt for next weekend's FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

Nick Kay (27 points) and Tim Conraed (24) led the way for Illawarra as it finished an otherwise disappointing season with a 10-point win.
