SSA eNews 266: Junior Award Nominees Announced

Six nominees for the 2018 Junior Athlete of the Year have been announced ahead of the annualAustralian Ski & Snowboard Awards which will be held in Melbourne on May 3.

Australia’s ski and snowboard athletes will gather for the sport’s night of nights and recognise the outstanding achievements of this unique group who have performed successfully on the international stage.

These six junior athletes join the previously announced nominees for  Athlete of the Year  and now all have the opportunity to be named a finalists and ultimately the winner at the Awards.

Ski & Snowboard Australia’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Kennedy says the Awards night will be a great celebration of achievements by junior and senior athletes.

“We are continually pleased to see the next generation of ski and snowboard athletes performing on the international and domestic stage. Our junior athletes have demonstrated the depth and talent of Australian skiing and snowboarding through their outstanding achievements during the season.

SSA Performance Pathway & Programs Manager

Ski & Snowboard Australia is seeking a dynamic leader and an excellent communicator with an ability to build positive and collaborative relationships and credibility with athletes, coaches and stakeholders to join it's team as the Performance Pathway & Programs Manager.

This role will provide the drive and leadership for the development and delivery of snowsport programs and performance pathways within the SSA National Athlete Pathway Framework.

The SSA Performance Pathway & Program Manager will provide management and strategic oversight of SSA’s sport pathways including talent identification and targeted emerging talent programs, coach development pathways, development and underpinning performance programs and the high-performance Para Winter programs. In addition, this role will lead and execute SSA’s responsibilities for high performance outcomes in partnership with organisations such as the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA), the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS), the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS), the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and Australian Paralympic Committee (APC).

SSA Para Snowboard Head Coach

Australia's Paralympic (Para) Snowboard Program achieved it's best ever Paralympic performance at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Games, collecting 1 Gold and 1 Bronze medal. With a talented group of senior medal capable athletes and the opportunity for identification and transfer of emerging athletes, Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) is looking for a passionate and technically skilled program leader and Head Coach to lead the program to Beijing 2022.
