The weekend of the 31/8-1/9 saw the State Level Trampoline Championships held at PCYC Launceston. Gymnasts from Apex Trampoline Club, Eastside Activity Centre, Hobart Gymnastics Academy, Kingborough Gymnastics Club and PCYC Launceston competed in Level 3 to Level 10 events in Individual Trampoline, Double-mini Trampoline, Tumbling and Synchronised Trampoline. The competition showcased the top trampoline gymnasts in Tasmania, with performances across the all levels showing that the sport is gaining in strength across all the four disciplines. The annual trophies were also presented at these Championships. A year of fantastic performances by talented athletes.

Saturday kicked off with the Level 5-10 events. After some close competition in many events, the results were tallied and winners announced.

On day 2, the Level 3 & 4 trampoline gymnasts bounced into competition showing us some exciting finals finishes and excellent execution scores in many of the events.

The Annual Trampoline Awards were also presented at the State Championships, representing a year’s worth of outstanding performances by talented athletes and showing that Tasmania is well and truly on not only the National arena, but also the International arena! Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Championships and a huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped out over the weekend. A big commitment from dedicated parents, coaches and judges to continue to help the sport of trampolining grow in Tasmania!

Acknowledgement was also made of the Australian Team members heading off to the World Championships and World Age Championships to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria in November. We wish Jack Penny (World Championships), Hugh McConnell, Joshua Hedley Williams and Makonnen Brown (World Age championships) the best of luck as they travel to compete against 46 countries from around the world. Also to officials – Ben Kelly (Coach World Championships and World Age), Leigh Oswin (Judge World Age) and Jo Penny (Team Manager World Championships, Head of Delegation/Team Manager World Age).
