What: Right To Play USA’s inaugural Central Park Classic provides an opportunity for guests and their families to skate with some of the greatest Olympic & professional athletes on ice in Trump Rink in New York City’s iconic Central Park.  Athletes will participate in festive ‘free skating’ with attendees and complete demonstrations of their sport for guests to watch up close and personal.  Proceeds benefit Right To Play.

 

Who:  Right To Play Founder, CEO and four-time Olympic gold medalist in Speedskating, Johann Olav Koss will be available for interviews as well as the following Athlete Ambassadors:

 

Bonnie Blair              Five-time Olympic gold medalist, Speedskating

Joey Cheek               2006 Olympic gold medalist, Speedskating,

Patrick Flatley          Retired NHL, NY Rangers and NY Islanders

Sarah Hughes           2002 Olympic gold medalist, Figure Skating

Why:    The Central Park Classic benefits Right To Play, a global organization that uses sport and play programs to educate and empower children facing adversity. Right To Play uses games, activities and sports to initiate important life lessons and develop skills like cooperation, leadership and teamwork. Specially trained Coaches engage the children through play, teaching them to protect themselves from disease, encourage them to attend and stay in school and to resolve conflict peacefully.

 

Founded in 2000 by social entrepreneur and four-time Olympic gold medalist Johann Olav Koss, Right To Play is supported by a network of over 300 global Olympic and professional Athlete Ambassadors that raise awareness and funds to support programs in 20 countries  reaching over 1 Million children participating in weekly Right To Play programs.

Where:         Trump Rink (Formally, Wollman Rink) Central Park, New York City

 

Best Park Entrance:         Central Park South (59th Street) and 6th Avenue. Wollman Rink is a two minute walk into Central Park from this entrance. Follow the footpath directly into the park and stay to the right.

 

By Subway:            Take the A, B, C, D, 1 to 59th St.- Columbus Circle
Take the N, Q, R to 5th Ave/59th St.
Take the F to 57th Street

 

Parking:                 There is no parking at the rink or within Central Park.
