Melbourne
Tuesday 10 October 2017

The first of the two Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Semi Finals will be played tomorrow evening (Tuesday 11 October) when the reigning Hyundai A-League Premiers and Champions, Sydney FC, will face South Melbourne FC at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne.

Fresh from their opening round 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory on Saturday night, Sydney FC have taken the opportunity to base themselves in Melbourne to focus on the match. Sydney FC will be looking to book a back-to-back Westfield FFA Cup Final berth on Wednesday night and make amends for their defeat at the hands of Melbourne City FC last year.

Standing in their way are South Melbourne FC, a club steeped in history, who will be looking to become the first ever member federation club to progress to the Westfield FFA Cup Final.  With a large, vocal home crowd predicted for the clash, an intriguing contest is definitely on the cards.

Wednesday night’s clash between South Melbourne FC and Sydney FC will be broadcast LIVE and exclusive in full on FOX SPORTS 501.

Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals – Matchday 2 Preview

The final two semi-finalists in the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 will be determined on Wednesday evening when Hyundai A-League heavyweights Western Sydney Wanderers venture to Lily Homes Stadium in Seven Hills to take on Blacktown City FC, and two Member Federation clubs collide on the Gold Coast.

Tony Popovic’s Wanderers will be aiming to make Club history on Wednesday evening by qualifying for the Westfield FFA Cup Semi Finals for the first time, however Mark Crittenden’s men will be out to secure another sizeable scalp in this year’s competition against the team that represents their region in the Hyundai A-League.

Wanderers made their way to the Quarters Finals of this year’s Westfield FFA Cup after defeating Wellington Phoenix in the Round of 32, and PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues (PS4 NPL) Victoria Grand Final winners Bentleigh Greens in the Round of 16.

Blacktown booked their place in the Quarter Finals after ousting Central Coast Mariners in the Round of 32, then PS4 NPL New South Wales rivals APIA Leichhardt Tigers in the Round of 16.

Wednesday night’s match at Lily Homes Stadium is officially a sell-out, however fans won’t miss a minute of the action on FOX SPORTS given the game will be shown LIVE and EXCLUSIVE from 7:30pm.

While Blacktown and Western Sydney battle it out for a Semi Final berth, the fourth and final Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals match will be being contested in Queensland between Gold Coast City FC and South Melbourne FC.

FOX SPORTS will stream Gold Coast’s game against South Melbourne LIVE and EXCLUSIVE from CBUS Stadium in Robina via www.foxsports.com.au, and provide regular crosses to the action in Queensland from their Blacktown broadcast.

Gold Coast City FC advanced to the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals after knocking out Western Knights from Perth in the Round of 32, before defeating their PS4 NPL Queensland rivals Moreton Bay United in the last 16.

South Melbourne made the last eight of this year’s Westfield FFA Cup after winning twice on home soil in the Rounds of 32 and 16 against Edgeworth Eagles FC and Sorrento FC respectively.

Both of Wednesday’s Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals will kick off at 7:30pm (AEST).

Sydney
Tuesday 12 September 2017

The first two semi-finalists in the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 will be determined on Wednesday evening when Hyundai A-League giants Sydney FC and Melbourne City FC collide at Leichhardt Oval, and PS4 NPL Victoria heavyweights Heidelberg United FC host the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup Champions Adelaide United at Olympic Village.

Graham Arnold’s men will be out to exact a measure of revenge against City at their temporary home ground in Lilyfield after Melbourne City FC defeated the Sky Blues 1-0 in last year’s Westfield FFA Cup Final played in the Victorian capital.

Sydney FC earned their place in the Quarter Finals of the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 following strong wins over Darwin Rovers in the Round of 32 and Bankstown Berries in the Round of 16.

Melbourne City FC booked their Quarter Finals place courtesy of triumphs over Peninsula Power in the Round of 32 and Hakoah Sydney City East in the Round of 16.

Wednesday’s match could feature the return of Caltex Socceroos star Tim Cahill to Westfield FFA Cup action. Cahill, who scored the winner in last year’s Westfield FFA Cup Final, missed City’s 3-2 win over Hakoah Sydney City East in the Round of 16 due to his involvement with Australia’s national team.

In the other Quarter Finals encounter to be played tomorrow evening Heidelberg United FC will be seeking to bounce back swiftly from their PS4 NPL Victoria Grand Final defeat against Bentleigh Greens on Sunday. The ‘Bergers’ were forced to play 120 minutes of football on Sunday evening in the lead up to their Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals clash against Marco Kurz’s Reds.

Heidelberg sealed their spot in the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals after defeating Perth Glory from the Hyundai A-League in the Round of 32, and Sydney United 58 FC on penalties in the Round of 16.

Adelaide United advanced to the Quarter Finals of this year’s Westfield FFA Cup at the expense of two of their Hyundai A-League rivals. The Reds eliminated 2015 winners Melbourne Victory in the Round of 16, and Newcastle Jets in the Round of 32.

Wednesday night’s clash between Sydney FC and Melbourne City FC will be broadcast LIVE and exclusive in full on FOX SPORTS, while Heidelberg’s home match against Adelaide will be streamed LIVE on the foxsports.com.au website. FOX SPORTS will also provide crosses to the Heidelberg v Adelaide clash.

Both of Wednesday’s Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals will kick off at 7:30pm (AEST).

Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals fixture and broadcast details announced

31/08/2017, Australia, Soccer, FFA Cup, Article # 23958654

Sydney

Thursday 31 August 2017

Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals fixture and broadcast details announced

A rematch of last year’s Westfield FFA Cup Final will kick off a huge week of Quarter Finals football in September when Sydney FC hosts Melbourne City FC at Leichhardt Oval.

Graham Arnold’s Sky Blues will challenge Warren Joyce’s City side at the boutique Lilyfield venue on Wednesday 13 September 2017, with the game to be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS.

Melbourne City FC defeated Sydney FC 1-0 in last year’s Westfield FFA Cup decider – Caltex Socceroos star Tim Cahill scoring the only goal of the game in front of nearly 19,000 people at Melbourne’s AAMI Park.

On the same evening PS4 NPL outfit Heidelberg United will take on the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup Champions Adelaide United at Olympic Village in Victoria.

Just seven days after the first two Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Semi-Finalists are determined in New South Wales and Victoria, the focus of football fans will shift to Seven Hills in Sydney’s west and Robina in Queensland to find out which other two Clubs will reach the final four.

On Wednesday 20 September 2017 FOX SPORTS will broadcast the all western Sydney stoush between Blacktown City FC and Western Sydney Wanderers FC live from what’s expected to be a heaving Lilys Football Centre.

Blacktown City FC knocked Central Coast Mariners out of the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 in the Round of 32, and Mark Crittenden’s men will have the chance to take another sizeable scalp when they take on the Wanderers – the club that represents their region in the Hyundai A-League.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast City FC’s Quarter Finals clash with South Melbourne FC will be held at the same time at CBUS Stadium in Queensland.

As well as broadcasting one match live and exclusive in full on each match night, FOX SPORTS will also live stream and provide updates from each evening’s other Quarter Finals fixture.

Ticketing information for each Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Quarter Finals match will be released in due course by each home club. Please visit www.theffacup.com.au/tickets for further details.

Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Round of 16 fixture and broadcast details announced

Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Round of 16 fixture and broadcast details announced

11/08/2017, Australia, Soccer, FFA Cup, Article # 23706226

Sydney

Friday 11 August 2017

The opening night of the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 will see the rekindling of a classic old rivalry as two proud former NSL clubs, Sydney United 58 FC and Heidelberg United, take centre stage on Wednesday 23 August as the headline broadcast match on FOX SPORTS.

The two old foes will trigger memories of the old glory days as they battle it out at the Sydney United Sports Centre for a spot in the last eight.

Night one of the Round of 16 will also see a heavyweight Hyundai A-League clash between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory in front of what is likely to be a full house at Marden Sports Complex, while it will be a ‘Piddick Derby’ in Queensland as brothers Adam and Grae Piddick, the respective bosses at Moreton Bay United and Gold Coast City, attempt to plot the other’s downfall.

The other match on August 23 sees South Melbourne at home again, this time for the visit of the Jamie Harnwell coached Sorrento, who eliminated last year’s semi finalists Canberra Olympic in the Round of 32.

Then on Tuesday 29 August FOX SPORTS will broadcast the tantalising match between 2014 semi finalists Bentleigh Greens and Western Sydney Wanderers FC.

Twice Bentleigh have faced Hyundai A-League opposition in the Westfield FFA Cup and on both occasions they have come out on the wrong end of the score line so they will be hoping it’s a case of third time lucky when they welcome Tony Popovic’s charges to Kingston Heath.

The rest of the night two action comes from the harbour city as Blacktown City, Bankstown Berries and Hakoah Sydney City East all host matches on what promises to be a bumper night of Cup action.

Lily Homes Stadium will play host to Blacktown City against APIA Leichhardt Tigers, the two teams currently vying for the top spot in PS4 NPL NSW.

At Leichhardt Oval, Hakoah Sydney City East are set to add another chapter in their history when they host reigning Cup holders Melbourne City FC, while second division club Bankstown Berries, the remaining Cinderella story in the this year’s competition, prepare to take on the star studded Sydney FC in a dream Cup tie at Sydney United Sports Centre.

As well as broadcasting one match LIVE and exclusive in full on each match night, FOX SPORTS will also LIVE stream and provide updates and crosses of all other matches.

Ticketing information for each of the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Round of 32 matches will be released in due course by each home club. Please visit www.theffacup.com.au/tickets for further details.
