THE CLIPSAL 500 IN NUMBERS

4 – Four different teams have won the last five Clipsal 500s - Triple Eight (2011), FPR (2012), TEKNO (2013) and HRT (2014, 2015).

10 – Holden drivers have claimed the last 10 Clipsal 500 pole positions in a row. Roland Dane should be very happy - his three 2016 signings Lowndes, Whincup and van Gisbergen have taken nine of those between them!

26 – The number of race starts Jamie Whincup has had at Clipsal, he has never failed to finish a Clipsal race.

042 – The chassis number of Shane Van Gisbergen’s brand new car debuting at Clipsal (888 chassis 042, nicknamed Portia).

498 – The 2016 Clipsal 500 will be the 498th ATCC/V8SC round ever held. The all-important 500th milestone will come up in April at Phillip Island.

Whincup - “Clipsal is one of the biggest events on the calendar and a great way to kick off the 2016 season. We took home the Teams Championship last year, but the drivers (championship) got away from us. I had a great Sunday at Clipsal last year, and after a strong test day I am feeling good.We come into the event on a level playing field, but you can never discount anyone.”
