Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak was linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were keen on securing his services, but Newcastle held firm and they are unwilling to lose their star striker any time soon.
According to a report from TBR Football, Newcastle are now hoping to agree on a new deal with him, and they are ready to accept his request in order to get the deal done.
The 24-year-old striker has demanded a release clause to be included in his contract so that he can leave the club if the opportunity arises. Newcastle recently agreed to a similar demand for Bruno Guimaraes and they are aware of the fact that they will have to accept the demand for Isak as well.
Alexander Isak has been phenomenal for Newcastle
The Swedish international has been exceptional for Newcastle since joining the club and they must hold onto him for as long as possible. He scored 25 goals in all competitions last season and he has carried the Newcastle attack all by himself. The Magpies will be hoping to get back into the UEFA Champions League and push for domestic trophies. They will need players of his quality at the club.
It is fair to assume that the release clause will be a significant one and it remains to be seen whether clubs willing to sign the Swedish international forward are willing to break the bank for him.
The striker is entering his peak years and he could improve further with coaching and experience. He has all the attributes to develop into a world-class forward and he will look to help Newcastle win trophies in the coming seasons.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is prepared to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions.
The 24-year-old is one of the best strikers in the world and Manchester City want to keep him at the club for as long as possible. According to HITC, the Norwegian international is ready to commit his long-term future to the club, but his representatives have informed Manchester City that he will not sign a new deal without a release clause.
His current contract already consists of a release clause which can be activated in 2025. Clubs will be able to secure his services for a fee of around £150 million. Haaland has now informed Manchester City that the new deal must include the release clause as well.
It will be interesting to see if the two parties can secure an agreement in the coming weeks. The 24-year-old has been exceptional since his move to Manchester City and he has already broken multiple records. The striker is yet to reach his peak and he could improve further with coaching and experience.
Man City must keep Erling Haaland
Manchester City must do everything in their power to keep him at the club for as long as possible. They will want to win major trophies every season and someone like Haaland could make a huge difference. He is undoubtedly one of the best finishers in world football and his ability to find the back of the net consistently makes an indispensable asset.
Clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona have been linked with a move for the player in recent months and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to trigger his release clause next summer.
Both Spanish clubs could use a quality centre forward, and Haaland could sort out their attacking unit for the foreseeable future.

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has entered the final year of his contract at the club.
The Dutch centre-back has been one of Liverpool’s best players during their successful spell under former manager Jurgen Klopp.
The signing of Van Dijk was the difference maker for Liverpool and it won’t be wrong to suggest that his arrival at the club elevated the level of the whole team.
With his contract expiring next year and no decision taken on a contract renewal, the Reds are making plans for life without him.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Premier League giants have identified Sevilla defender Lioc Bade as the candidate to replace Van Dijk.
The La Liga defender has a £50.6m [€60m] release clause and the Merseyside club are willing to activate it next year.
Liverpool will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich to sign the defender.
As per the report, the Reds “consider him a serious option to replace Virgil Van Dijk”.
In the 2022/23 season, the defender joined Nottingham Forest on loan but left the Premier League club without making an appearance.

Manchester United have been without striker Rasmus Hojlund since the preseason.
The Red Devils signed attacker Joshua Zirkzee in the summer and he has been leading the attack in the absence of Hojlund.
The Danish striker got injured in the preseason match against Arsenal, the same match in which defender Leny Yoro suffered an injury.
The striker was expected to return after the international break but the Red Devils are now looking to carefully manage his fitness.
According to ESPN, the Premier League giants are not in any rush to bring the striker back to the starting line up.
They want to carefully manage his fitness regime and avoid last season’s injury troubles.
The Red Devils have been unlucky with injuries in the last two seasons, with a number of crucial first team members missing action because of fitness issues.
The likes of Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, Victor Lindelof and many other players have faced injury problems at the club in the recent past.
Erik ten Hag and his team have decided that they will use Hojlund sparingly in the next coming weeks, with the manager also having another option of Zirkzee now.
Hojlund showed promising signs at Man United last season
Hojlund scored ten Premier League goals in his debut season at the club last season in 30 appearances for the Red Devils.
He started the season slowly but gained momentum during the festive period and showed his ability to lead the attack and finish chances.
In six matches in the Champions League last season, the striker scored five goals.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has explained what he feels has gone wrong for Antony at Manchester United, whilst also discussing what could happen next with the Brazilian winger.
The former Ajax star shone under Erik ten Hag during their time together in the Eredivisie, but things haven’t worked out at all for him during his time at Old Trafford.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano stated his view that there are a variety of reasons for Antony’s struggles at Man Utd, with his big price tag being one factor.
On top of that, however, Romano also cited some off-the-pitch issues for the 24-year-old, and made the valid point that pretty much everyone associated with the Red Devils has had a difficult few years.
Antony transfer: What next for the Man United misfit?
In terms of what happens next, it seems that Antony won’t be joining Fenerbahce, but apart from that it’s a bit harder to make predictions about his future.
Romano says that Antony will be staying at United for now and that he’ll get his chance in Ten Hag’s side, though the situation could be one to watch again in 2025.
“In terms of wingers moving out, Antony has been linked with Fenerbahce but that deal is not happening. After that, I can’t predict the future, it’s only September, so let’s see how the season goes and then next summer Antony and Man United will decide. There’s no decision made now, he’s staying and he’ll have a chance,” Romano said.
“It’s hard to pin down one reason things have gone wrong for Antony since his move to Old Trafford. My view is that he’s struggled for different reasons – firstly, there was the big price putting pressure on him, then personal issues away from the pitch, while in general these have also been two difficult seasons for Man United for almost everyone involved, not only for Antony.”
