  IMCA Modifieds are back at Arizona Speedway this Saturday night after a thriller just weeks ago that crowned Don Earven as the 2017 Arizona Speedway IMCA Track Champion and stretched his lead in the San Tan Ford Modified Championship. Behind him the talent is deep and all will be at Arizona Speedway this Saturday night.

  Pure Stocks also back in action as one of the nightly favorites with Steve Soboski leading the field over Anthony Cantena and Michael Brigner. Brigner who was last weeks winner will try and make it two in a row this Saturday.

Saturday night October 7th we pay tribute to the Tempe Tornado himself with the 2nd annual Lealand McSpadden Classic featuring ASCS Wing Sprint Cars. Also joining the wing stars will be Pure Stocks, Sport Mods, Modlites and Robert Hone Ford Bombers.
Just weeks ago the South West ASCS Region added a new face to victory lane as Joshua Shipley picked up the teams first win crossing the line in front of Jesse Baker and Billy Chester. Behind them 9 time reigning champ Rick Ziehl continued to battle for points to retain his title that second year sensation Colton Hardy is focused on taking.
Sport Mods also in action and are on the final stretch of the S.W. Championships that has Ray Czumaj leading the division over Tyler Mecl and Jason George.
Modlites saw a new winner their last trip to Arizona Speedway as Chase Alves grabbed a win and will look to make it 2 in a row over the rest of the Modlite teams.
Pure Stocks continue to be must see Saturday night action. Steve Soboski holds onto a comfortable points lead over Anthony Catena and Michael Brigner while Bo Partain added a new name to the winners books at the last race.
Finally the Bombers will forgo heat races in lue of a $400 to win 35 lap feature that will be lined up based entirely off of the drivers pill draw number giving everyone a shot at starting up front for the $400 Robert Horne Ford payday!

    Action is what you will see this Saturday night September 23rd as we welcome the return of the Super Late Models, paired with IMCA Modified and IMCA Sport Mod Championship night and capping the card with Pure Stocks and Robert Horne Ford Bombers.   

  SWDRA Late Models make their first of 3 appearances over the next 2 months to Arizona Speedway and with them bring a stacked field of the fastest fendered cars in the SouthWest.   With multiple winners so far in the 2017 season in what seems to be the rebirth of the division, fans and drivers anxiously await the drop of the green flag on Saturday night.

  Both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sport Mods will also battle for their final IMCA points race of 2017.   In the Modified division Don Earven holds a commanding 36 point lead over Brian Schultz who sits only 2 points ahead of John Morris Jr in 3rd.     Sport Mod leader Tyler Mecl sits 39 points ahead of  Ray Czumaj with Jason George 9 points out of 3rd.

  Pure stocks will continue 3 and 4 wide racing on Saturday night.  Although one of the most competitive divisions,  Steve Soboski currently leads Anthony Catena and Michael Brigner by a full 2 race 80 point gap.    Robert Horne Ford Bombers return after being off for a week.  Coming into the Saturday nights feature Michael Soboski leads the division 8 points ahead of Bret Bierman with Mike Nance and Jesse Stonecipher tied for 3rd and Justin Fitts just 1 point away from making it a three way tie for 3rd.

ASCS Wing Sprint Cars return this Saturday night with the 2017 points battle on the line between 9 time champ Rick Ziehl and Colton Hardy who is charging for his first ASCS Championship. Lance Norick and Josh Shipley are also in a heated battle for the 3rd and 4th positions followed by Darryl Sickles.

Tickets on Sale for the 50th Annual Western World Championships

Kevin Montgomery San Tan Valley, Ariz. (September 13, 2017) – As we race towards fall and the conclusion of the 2017 Championship season, race fans can look forward to the crisp cool fall evening’s in Arizona and the 50th running of the Western World Championships at Arizona Speedway. Tickets are now available for one of Arizona’s longest standing racing traditions featuring the greatest traditional Sprint Car drivers in the world.

Arizona Speedway will play host to the USAC National and CRA Sprint Cars with complete shows each night and winners taking home $5,000 on Friday and $7,500 on Saturday while the USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series will also take part in the festivities with a $3,000 winner’s check on both Friday and Saturday.

The long-standing tradition of sprint car racing in Arizona is synonymous with the Western World Championship’s and now the oldest race in Arizona history will take to Arizona’s newest race track. Arizona Speedway is set to host the 50th running of the Western World Championships Friday November 3rd and Saturday November 4th, 2017.

The 2017 Western World Championships will feature The Amsoil USAC National 410 Sprint Cars vs. USAC CRA 410 Sprint Cars along with USAC Southwest Sprint Cars. An open practice session will take place on Thursday evening, November 2 with racing action kicking off on Friday, November 3, at 7pm.

Chris Windom capitalized on his third consecutive USAC Amsoil National feature win to garner his first Western World title while Brady Bacon held of R.J. Johnson to win his third USAC Southwest Western World Crown.

Steve Kinser has claimed the most Western World titles with seven triumphs including wingless wins in 1982 and 1983 followed by winged wins in 1985, 1987, 1990, 1992 and 1996.
Ron Shuman is next on the list with five Western World triumphs, all of the wingless variety, with other drivers posting multiple Western World wins including Bryan Clauson (4), Donnie Schatz (3), Lealand McSpadden (3), Sammy Swindell (3), Brady Bacon (3), Bud Kaeding (2), Mark Kinser (2) and Jan Opperman (2).
