Northern Summer Nationals on July 24; World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series invades Ohsweken July 25

By Clayton Johns

OHSWEKEN, Ont. – July 23, 2017 – Ohsweken Speedway is set to host two of its biggest event sof the season this Monday and Tuesday, July 24 and 25 night as Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Larson and four-time Knoxville Nationals champion Danny Lasoski are set to tackle the Six Nations 3/8-mile clay oval.

On Monday, July 24 Larson and Lasoski take on Ohsweken’s best Sprint Car drivers in the Burger Barn Northern Summer Nationals for the Kool Kids-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars. The winner will guarantee themselves a spot in the prestigious $12,000-to-win 13th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken September 15-16. Also on the schedule is the prestigious 50-lap Brock Leonard Memorial for the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks, a full points event for the Stickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars and the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds.

Then, on Tuesday, July 25, Larson and Lasoski will take on the best Sprint Car drivers in the world when the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series rolls into town for the Six Nations Showdown presented by Arrow Express. The 30-lap, $10,000-to-win showdown will pit two of the hottest Sprint Car drivers in the country against the tough Outlaw cast that includes eight-time champion Donny Schatz, rising star David Gravel and the ‘Big Cat’ Brad Sweet as well as mainstays Daryn Pittman, Shane Stewart, Jason Johnson, Kraig Kinser and Sheldon Haudenschild to name a few. Tuesday’s show is also the first round of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series Western Region and the HRW Automotive Mini Stocks will battle in twin 15-lap races.

Larson is one of the hottest Sprint Car drivers in the world right now. The dirt ace turned NASCAR star has beaten the best Sprint Car drivers across the country this season. Larson topped the World of Outlaws at Nebraska’s Eagle Raceway in June, then knocked off the Arctic Car All-Star Circuit of Champions during Ohio Speedweek and followed it up by rattling off four consecutive wins against the Pennsylvania Posse during PA Speedweek. Larson is that good.

“I am really excited to make my first trip to Canada and also to be racing a Sprint Car,” Larson said. “Ohsweken has always produced great racing with multiple lines so it should be fun to try and adapt to the track. Hopefully we can pick up a couple wins while I am there.”

Lasoski is no slouch either. The Dover, Missouri native is a four-time Knoxville Nationals champion, three of which came with Tony Stewart Racing. ‘The Dude’ is a former World of Outlaws regular and once held the Ohsweken qualifying track record until current full-time Outlaw Kraig Kinser knocked it down with a lap of 12.047 seconds on July 30, 2010.

In addition to Larson and Lasoski, several top talents have already confirmed they will be in attendance at Ohsweken for the Northern Summer Nationals. Ohsweken point leader Dylan Westbrook, who has six wins this season, will be in attendance. Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint point leader Jason Barney will also chase the top prize.

Australian star Max Johnston has also made his way north to compete against Ohsweken’s best for Styres Racing. He earned a third-place finish on Friday night in his first night of action behind the wheel of the Styres No.0. Up and coming racer Joe Trenca of Clay, NY has also thrown his name into the ring for both nights of action.

It’s two nights of action-packed racing at Ohsweken Speedway that you don’t want to miss. For additional event information, including tickets and camping, visit www.ohswekenspeedway.ca.

A second-place starting position was all Dylan Westbrook needed to pick up his sixth straight win in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars division at Ohsweken Speedway. Westbrook took the lead from pole-sitter Alex Hill following a lap 1 caution and was able to hold it following a lap 2 red flag which saw Jamie Turner’s car flip on its side.

Westbrook was only slowed by lapped traffic late in the race. He passed all but six of the 19 starters. Westbrook’s six consecutive wins set a new track record a Ohsweken. Glenn Styres, held the previous record of five straight victories.

A thrilling 20-lap Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars Feature saw several racers challenge for the lead. Mike Thorne used his second-place starting position to lead early, but he was soon confronted by Holly Porter and Mack DeMan.

A three-wide battle for the lead down the back straightaway on lap 15 saw Porter use the bottom of the racetrack, while DeMan and Thorne fought it out on the outside. Porter took the lead from Thorne on lap 16, but was only able to hold onto it for a short period of time as DeMan took the lead one lap later.

A late caution set up a three-lap dash to the finish. When the checkered flew, DeMan prevailed and picked up his second consecutive win.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks (27 Entries)

(Photo by Dale Calnan/Image Factor Media)

For the first time since last season, someone other than Dave Bailey or Ryan Dinning was in Lucas Oil Victory Lane at the end of the 20-lap Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock feature.

Sixteenth starting Derek Lemyre was simply overpowering in his quest to knock off both Bailey and Dinning. Lemyre powered through the outside line to grab the lead on lap 3 and he never looked back.

A lap 19 caution set up a showdown between Bailey and Lemyre with one to go. On the restart, Lemyre picked the high line and was able to fight off Bailey for his first win of the year.

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks (35 Entries)

(Photo by Dale Calnan/Image Factor Media)

Jason Dixon and Patrick Abrahamsson brought the field to green in the HRW Automotive Mini Stocks 15-lap Feature, but Davey Boughton led lap 1. A lap 2 caution opened the door for sixth-place starter Brandon Janssens, who used the outside line to lead lap 3.

A scary moment on lap 7 saw B-Main Winner Dusty DeBoer viciously flip going into turn 3, bringing out the red. DeBoer was able to walk away from the crash, though the same thing could not be said for his #23 machine.

Following the red, eleventh-place starter Nick Masi joined Janssens in a battle for the lead. A single file restart following a caution on lap 11 sealed the deal for Janssens, as he used the outside line once again to hold of a hard-charging Masi.

Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers (21 Entries)

(Photo by Dale Calnan/Image Factor Media)

Jake Maas started third in the 12-lap Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bomber Feature and he was able to use that to his advantage jumping out to an early lead.

A caution on lap 5 tightened the field and set up an exciting restart. When green flew, Maas reassumed his lead, opening up a couple of car lengths lead on Tim Jamieson and Gillian Hils. Maas expertly navigated lapped traffic and held on for the win.

The most exciting battle on the race track was for second place, as Hils and Jamieson were side-by-side for most of the feature. In the end, Hils was able to use the bottom of the race track to edge Jamieson for second. Lucas Smith and Alex Maas completed the top five.

Ohsweken Officials Disappointed After Rico Abreu Withdraws From Events

OHSWEKEN, Ont. – July 21, 2017 – Ohsweken Speedway is excited to welcome Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series multi-time winner Kyle Larson for two big nights of Sprint Car racing at the 3/8-mile clay oval on Monday July 24 in the Burger Barn Northern Summer Nationals and Tuesday July 25 in the Arrow Express Six Nations Showdown for the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series. Ohsweken officials are, however, disappointed to announce Rico Abreu has withdrawn from his commitment to race at both events.

“Due to recent personnel changes within Rico Abreu Racing, we’re unable to participate in the upcoming races on July 24-25 at Ohsweken Speedway,” Rico Abreu said in a statement. “This has impacted our preparation for these events. We realize not being able to appear at Ohsweken Speedway will be disappointing to the fans who already purchased tickets to see us race, but we hope to be in Canada to race at Ohsweken next year.”

Ohsweken Speedway officials were stunned to learn of Abreu’s decision Thursday night.

“To say we are disappointed in an understatement,” said Ohsweken Speedway General Manager Clinton Geoffrey. “We were shocked to hear about this turn of events. Our management staff at Ohsweken immediately contacted Kyle Larson’s team who have confirmed that he will be ready to compete on Monday and Tuesday.”

Despite Abreu’s absence, Ohsweken officials are pleased to confirm that four-time Knoxville Nationals champion ‘The Dude’ Danny Lasoski of Dover, Missouri will drive a Hoddick Racing entry for both events. In addition to his four Knoxville crowns, three of which came with Tony Stewart Racing, Lasoski is also a former full-time World of Outlaws competitor who is seventh on the Series’ all-time win list with 90 Feature victories.

A healthy contingent of local and Northeastern stars will be in attendance for both shows to battle with Larson. The hottest 360 Sprint Car driver in the Northeast and current Ohsweken Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak Sprint Car point leader Dylan Westbrook will try to defend his home turf against Larson. Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint point leader Jason Barney has also confirmed his attendance and plans to hunt down Larson for the third Ohsweken win of his career.

The following the night, the stars of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series roll into town for the 11th straight season. Eight-time and defending Outlaw champion Donny Schatz of Fargo, ND will be gunning to repeat his 2016 victory and continue on the lucrative pace he has set to start Sprint Car racing’s Month of Money.

Full-time Outlaw and former Canadian Sprint Car Nationals winner Shane Stewart of Bixby, OK will also be a top contender when he unloads his Larson Marks Racing No.2. Stewart will look to upset his boss, Larson, for the victory at the Big O. In addition, Dylan Westbrook will get his chance to show the Outlaws the fast way around Ohsweken as he will have a 410ci motor under the hood of his popular No.47x.

This Sunday July 23, Ohsweken hosts the Kool Kidz Micro Sprint Club Mid-Season Championships. The afternoon will feature the Kool Kidz Beginner, Junior, Intermediate and Expert classes of Micro Sprints, plus the Flat Karts and a special visit from the Junior Late-Models and Trucks from Grand Bend Speedway. Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars

Dylan Westbrook has been unbeatable in 360 Sprint Car competition at Ohsweken over the past five weeks. Westbrook has won three straight Kool Kids-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car Features as well as tour races with the Patriot Sprint Tour and Southern Ontario Sprints. Last week’s win allowed him to grow his points lead to 31 ticks over the ‘Red Rocket’ Jim Huppunen. Cory Turner and Mikey Kruchka sit third and fourth, respectively in the standings, while Mitch Brown leap froggen Ryan Turner last week to round out the top-five.

Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars

The Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car division had a tough but exciting Feature event last week. Mack DeMan’s second win of the season closed the points gap behind leader Jesse McDonald to just seven. Holly Porter remains very much in the mix just 10 points behind McDonald. Shone Evans sits fourth while Turkey, a teammate to McDonald and Porter, sits fifth in the standings entering this weekend’s action.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks

Ryan Dinning earned his second win of the season last Friday night, holding off current point leader Dave Bailey. Bailey still holds a 45-point advantage over Dinning, who suffered through some early season mechanical problems. Those two drivers have won every Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock Feature at Ohsweken since July 25, 2016. They’ll be challenged again this week by a hungry field, including Dereck Lemyre, Ken Sargent and Jim Lampman who round out the top-five in the current point standings.

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks

The HRW Automotive Mini Stocks point battle continues to heat up. Mark Bazuin holds the current point lead, but is under the watchful eye of Jon Janssens and Brandon Crumbie, who are 18 and 33 markers back, respectively. Rookie driver Nick Masi continues to surge up the standings and sits in fourth, one spot ahead of Tim DeBoer.

Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers

The Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers continue to produce thrilling racing with 20-car fields racing on the infield oval more often than not on Friday nights. Lucas Smith has been the hot shoe so far this season with three wins and has a 27-point lead over Paul Longboat. Gillian Hils sits third and has one win. Dustin Longboat and Jerry Burnham finished still hold top-five spots in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars (26 entries)

AJ Lewis and Jacob Dykstra brought the field to green, but they did not get far as a massive collision at the front of the field in turn one brought out the red flag. Dykstra’s sprint car flipped onto its right side, causing enough damage to knock him out of the race along with Jerry Hill and Cody Day.

The wreck caused a total reshuffling of the field as the involved leaders were placed at the back of the pack. Mack DeMan used this to his advantage. DeMan, originally the eighth starter, restarted second alongside Lewis. When the green flag waved, DeMan used the high side of the speedway to get by Lewis.

DeMan never surrendered his lead, using the bottom of the racetrack to navigate lapped traffic and pick up the feature win over Holly Porter by 6.410 seconds. Mike Thorne, Lewis and Hannah Ferrell rounded out the top five.

Jesse McDonald, AJ Lewis, Jacob Dykstra, and Josh Shantz were heat winners. Liam Martin won the B-Main.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks (25 entries)

Three and four-wide racing brought out an early lap 1 red flag at the beginning of the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks 20-lap feature. The wreck took out seven of the 23 starters in the feature, including polesitter Nick Liverance.

Logan Shwedyk took the lead out of the caution, but was only able to hold it for three laps as Ken Sargent came storming from behind to take the lead.

The two-car battle for the lead quickly became a four-car battle, as Ryan Dinning and Dave Bailey made their way from the back of the field again to join the leaders by lap 8.

Dinning took the lead for good on lap 10, but Bailey fought valiantly side-by-side until the checkered flag flew.

For Dinning, it was his second consecutive win. No one has beat Dinning or Bailey in the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks division since .

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks (37 entries)

Gary Hodgson raced out to an early lead at the start of the 15-lap HRW Automotive Mini Stocks Feature but was soon challenged by Brandon Janssens. Using the high side of the racetrack, Janssens was able to get by Hodgson on lap six.

A Dusty DeBoer crash along the front straightaway on lap 9 brought Hodgson and Janssens back together. When the green flew again, Janssens used the top of the speedway to get a lead on Hodgson. He never yielded that lead, taking the feature win, one week after finishing a disappointing 24th.

Brandon Crumbie was able to get by Hodgson on lap 12 to take second place, while Hodgson settled for third. Aaron Rewutzky and Nick Masi completed the top five.

Janssens, Hodgson, and Bobby Tolton were heat winners. Fabio Olivierie won the B-Main.

Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers (20 entries)

Tim Jamieson had the pole for the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers 12-lap feature, but a lap one yellow flag shuffled the field. When green was displayed, Cody Sommerville charged out of the gate and took the lead. Sommerville, who debuted his new ride last week, was a man on a mission. He never relented despite a hard charging Adam Plazek.

Lapped traffic was not a problem for Sommerville, who was able to weave in and out of the slow cars on the small track at Ohsweken. Plazek, fought off third place challenger Dustin Longboat, but the lapped traffic got the best of him in his quest to take down Sommerville.

All Emergency Services personnel will be admitted to the racetrack for free with their professional identification.

Friday’s race also marks the annual sponsor night, where race teams are given passes to invite their sponsors to the racetrack free of charge for an evening of thrilling dirt track excitement. In addition, several race teams are joining the speedway’s promotion of bike giveaway to young fans. All kids who enter the main grandstand gate will receive a free draw ticket for bike night.

“All of the race teams are getting behind this great promotion,” said Ohsweken Speedway general manager Clinton Geoffrey. “It’s possible that we could give away 50 brand new bikes this week.”

Race time is 7:30pm with Pit Gates scheduled to open at 5:30pm and Spectator Gates opening at 6:00pm. Admission for adults is just $14, $10 for seniors (65+), Youths (13-17), while kids age 7-12 are only $3. Children 6 and under are free.

Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars

After two straight races of domination, every driver in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak Sprint Car standings is chasing Dylan Westbrook. The Scotland, Ont. driver has accumulated an 18-point advantage over championship hopeful Jim Huppunen, who has a win himself this season. Cory Turner, Mikey Kruchka and Ryan Turner remain championship contenders with spots in the top-five in the standings as all three drivers have been knocking on the door of their first wins of this season.

Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars

The Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car division continues to have a thrilling see-saw points battle. Jesse McDonald holds a 29-point gap over last week’s Feature winner, Holly Porter. Perrennial contender Mack DeMan is third in the standings just one point back of Porter. A tie for fourth between the Crate Sprint Car division’s all-time wins leader Ryan Hunsinger and Jerry Hill rounds out the top-five.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks

The Dave Bailey and Ryan Dinning show continued last week as the two drivers occupied the top two spots on the podium. The friendly adversaries have a target on their backs from the rest of the field as every driver that straps in looks to take the win away from them. Bailey has the current point lead and sits 49 notches above Dinning, who had problems early in the season. Jim Lampman is just 10 points back on Dinning in third while Dereck Lemyre and Ken Sargent round out the top-five.

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks

The tightest points battle takes place in the HRW Automotive Mini Stock division. Mark Bazuin has a slim four point lead over Jon Janssens. Rookie driver Nick Masi has rocketed up the standings to third, but is just one point ahead of Brandon Crumbie. Fabio Olivieri and Tim DeBoer sit tied 382 points for fifth in the current standings.

Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers

The Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers have engaged in some of the most thrilling racing of the season on the infield oval. The starter class has seen several drivers charge through the field to earn a victory or finish on the podium. So far, Lucas Smith has been the most consistent driver and will try to maintain his 25-point gap over Paul Longboat this week. Entering Friday’s race, Gillian Hils, Jerry Burnham and Dustin Longboat round out the top-five.

Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars (18 entries)

Front row starter Jake Brown raced to an early lead on the outside in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car Feature while third-starting Dylan Westbrook quickly jumped into second ahead of polesitter Jim Huppunen. Scott Kreutter worked his way into the top-three on lap three and made it a three-car battle up front.

The race was slowed for its only caution on lap six when Curtis Gartly’s No.6 slowed in turn three. On the following restart, Westbrook got past Brown for the point and Kreutter followed suit into second. Westbrook pulled out to a lead, but Kreutter reeled him in on lap 12. Westbrook played defense over the next five laps to maintain an advantage of 0.3 seconds.

When the two drivers caught slower traffic with three laps to go, Westbrook found another gear and drove away from Kreutter by 2.4 seconds to secure his fourth win of the season at Ohsweken. The victory moved Westbrook into a tie for sixth with Steve Poirier for the most all-time wins at Ohsweken with eight. Jake Brown and Cory Turner were heat race winners.

Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars (30 entries)

Holly Porter brought the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car field to the green flag from the pole position and was simply dominant the rest of the way. The Delhi, ON driver paced the field through a flurry of early cautions on laps two and four despite the efforts of Jerry Hill and teammate Jesse McDonald.

Porter was perfect on a number of restarts including on the green-white-checkered finish. The battle to watch was for second as teammates Jesse McDonald and Aaron Turkey battled Mack DeMan and Jerry Hill for second and third. It was following the final restart that Turkey was able to get by Hill for third and bring DeMan with him as Hill settled for fifth. The Porter, McDonald and Turkey top-three made it a podium sweep for Styres racing.

Eric McGlone, Ryan Hunsinger, Jesse Costa and McDonald were heat race winners. Hannah Ferrell and Cody Day won the pair of B-Mains, but Day was later disqualified for having the nose wing too far forward.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks (24 entries)

Nick Liverance and Chris Hale brought the field to the green flag for the Middleport Mechanical 20-lap Feature. Liverance grabbed an early advantage while the man on the move was the 14th starter Dereck Lemyre, who was into the top-five by lap three. On lap five, Lemyre’s momentum in the outside lane allowed him to take the lead from Liverance, however he had hard chargers Ryan Dinning, Ken Sargent and Dave Bailey knocking on his rear bumper by the time of the first caution on lap seven for a spin that involved Jim Lampman, Ryan Beagle and Frankie Turkey Jr.

Lemyre and Dinning fought tooth and nail for the lead over the next three laps before Dinning cleared the No.56 for sole possession of the top spot on lap 10. The caution flag waved again on lap 12 to give Lemyre another shot at Dinning up front. However, Bailey took the bottom lane on the restart and grabbed second from Lemyre, but could not track down Dinning over the final eight circuits.

The victory was Dinning’s second of the season while Bailey, Lemyre, Jason Lungaro and Rob Hoskins rounded out the top-five. Hale, Chris Dickie and Trevor DeBoer were qualifying heat winners.

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks (36 entries)

The HRW Automotive Mini Stock drivers had a pair of Features on tap as they completed the final 12 laps of their June 30 Feature that was cut short by rain. Bobby Tolton restarted that race at the front of the field and completely checked out from the drop of the green flag. He paced all 12 remaining laps to secure his first career victory at Ohsweken. His teammate Brandon Crumbie drove all the way from the rear of the field to a second-place finish.

In the regularly scheduled Feature that was the nightcap, Chris French jumped out to an early advantage after starting on the pole as Brandon Janssens and Wayde Thorne battled for second. The first of two yellow flags came on lap seven and saw Thorne take the lead, but just three laps later it was Jon Janssens making a bid for the lead past the No.4w.

Jon Janssens took the lead on lap 12 and then held off Thorne and rookie Nick Masi on a restart with three laps to go in order to secure the victory. Masi edged past Thorne on the final lap to claim the runner-up spot and Mark Bazuin and Fabio Olivieri rounded out the top-five. Thorne, Tim Nuell and Tolton were heat race winners while Jacob Bazuin won the B-Main.

Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers (20 entries)

A thrilling and chaotic Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bomber Feature had Eric Maas and Cody Sommerville on the front row. Sommerville, who was debuting a new ride, raced out to an early lead and paced the field until lap three. At that point third-starting Dustin Longboat was on the move and assumed the lead. Longboat continued to lead following a lap six restart and appeared to have a win in the bag.

However, Longboat’s advantage was eliminated by a caution on lap 11 that setup a green-white-checkered finish to extend the race to 13 laps. Sommerville retook the lead on the restart with a slick inside move in turn one, but overshot the exit of turn four and suffered a flat right-front tire, allowing Longboat to retake the lead. Longboat didn’t make the same mistake twice as he led the final lap to secure the victory ahead of Jerry Burnham and Enya Robinson. Longboat and Gillian Hils were qualifying heat winners.

O’Neil’s Farm Equipment and Case IH present Media Appreciation and Frankie Turkey Memorial Night

06/07/2017, Ohsweken (Ontario), Motorsport-Speedway, Ohsweken Speedway (Motorsport Speedway), Article # 23118736

By Clayton Johns

OHSWEKEN, Ont. – July 6, 2017 – Ohsweken Speedway is set to resume Friday Night Excitement as O’Neil’s Farm Equipment and Case IH present Media Appreciation and Frankie Turkey Memorial night. The HRW Automotive Mini Stocks will run double features with the Kool Kids-Corr/Pak 360 Sprints Cars, Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks and Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers also on the schedule.

The night will honour the late Frankie Turkey, track owner Glenn Styres’ uncle, who passed away following a car accident at just 27 years of age. Frankie introduced Glenn to auto racing at a young age, and remains an inspiration for many parts of Glenn’s business – including the track’s trademark orange.

Several media members will also be in attendance for Media Appreciation night. Members of the local media will have the chance to take the ride of their life in Ohsweken’s unique two-seat Sprint Car. They’ll also have the opportunity to sample the track’s delicious menu choices, including Pinty’s Chicken Fingers and Boneless Wings, Eataly subs and Wally Parr Sausages.

Dylan Westbrook continued his winning ways last week when he used a late restart to take the lead from Jim Huppunen and drive off to his second challenge race victory of the season against the Southern Ontario Sprints. Weekly racing resumes this week with Westbrook still holding a narrow two point advantage over Huppunen at the top of the standings. Cory Turner is third in the standings just 17 points back of the lead while Ryan Turner and Mikey Kruchka round out the top five.

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks

The HRW Automotive Mini Stock drivers will have double features this week. Last week’s Feature was interrupted after just three laps. That race will pick-up from that point and will be the first race of the night this week. Drivers will then begin a brand new event and qualify for the night’s Feture through normal procedures. So far this season, the division has seen four different winners in as many races, with rookie driver Nick Masi the most recent victor after he picked up a win on June 16. Entering the night, Mark Bazuin is the point leader with just a seven-point advantage over Jon Jansses. Brandon Crumbie, Brandon Janssens and Aaron Rewutzsky complete the current top-five.

Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars

The Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car division will look to thrill again when they hit the Ohsweken clay again this week. Shone Evans drove his No.87x to Victory Lane, leading every lap for his first career win. Jesse McDonald is the new high point man in the championship standings after Mack DeMan suffered mechanical problems and was unable to finish the main event last week.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks

Dave Bailey continues to be the measuring stick in the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock feature as the Hagersville, Ont. driver raced to his fourth win of the season last week. Ryan Dinning, who also as a win this season, earned another strong second-place finish. The two drivers have waged an exciting battle all season long, including an instant-classic finish back on June 16 when the margin of victory was just 0.005 seconds. They’ll both have their hands full again this week though with weekly top-five contenders Ken Sargent, Jim Lampman, Dereck Lemyre and Trevor DeBoer all hungry for a parking spot in Victory Lane.

Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers

The Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers are also excited to return to action after one of their most exciting races of the season. Point leader Lucas Smith won from the 17th starting spot last week, but had to outduel a number of tough competitors who are fighting to take over the top spot in the standings. He’ll have to contend with the likes of Gillians Hils, Paul Longboat, Dustin Longboat, and Alex and Jake Mass, to name a few.
