• For the first time in history these two teams will meet in the opening game of the season.
 
• The Reds lead the overall head-to-head between the two teams nine wins to four.
 
• NRC star Brandon Paenga-Amosa will make his Queensland and Super Rugby debut.
 
• The Melbourne squad have named 10 Test stars in their starting line-up including 2017 Australian Super Rugby player of the year, Amanaki Mafi.

• The Waratahs boast a star-studded lineup of Wallabies spearheaded by Michael Hooper, Bernard Foley, Kurtley Beale and Israel Folau.
• Hooper is set to lead the side for a fourth successive season while Beale resumes his Waratahs career following a stint for Wasps in the English Premiership.
