JAPAN WELCOMED TO RUGBY WORLD CUP 2015 AT BRIGHTON DOME

Today the Japan team were welcomed to Rugby World Cup 2015 during their official Welcome Ceremony at Brighton Dome.

The ceremony marked the arrival of the team ahead of the start of their Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign at Brighton Community Stadium on September 19, when they face South Africa in their opening game of the Tournament.

The ceremony saw the Japan squad arrive at Brighton Dome to be greeted by a choir from Westdene Primary School, Brighton, performing World In Union in front of an audience including figures from World Rugby, England Rugby 2015 and the RFU, as well as the player's families and the local community.

Following welcome speeches, from Chairman of World Rugby, Bernard Lapasset, the Chairman of England Rugby 2015, Andy Cosslett and Mayor of Brighton, Linda Hyde, each member of the team was presented with a Tournament cap and Rugby World Cup 2015 participation medal. There were four cap and medal bearers who were selected from local clubs and educational institutions, representing the legacy of Rugby World Cup 2015. 

With the Tournament rapidly approaching, fans still have the opportunity to get their hands on tickets to see Japan at the third largest sports event in the world. Tickets for the following matches can still be purchased at tickets.rugbyworldcup.com:
  • September 19, 16:45 – South Africa vs Japan, Brighton Community Stadium
  • October 3, 14:30 – Samoa vs Japan, Stadium MK, Milton Keynes
Tickets for a number of other matches across the Tournament are available at tickets.rugbyworldcup.com.
 
During their time at Rugby World Cup 2015, Japan will be staying at the following Team Bases:
  • Warwick School
  • Brighton College
The official ticket resale service is still live via tickets.rugbyworldcup.com and provides support to fans who wish to sell tickets for matches they can no longer attend. Fans should only buy tickets from official sources to ensure their ticket is valid for entry at Rugby World Cup 2015 matches.
