Nothing can ever be taken for granted in the Mitre 10 Cup competition, as Canterbury found out in Week 5. Opening the round with a 78-5 Ranfurly Shield defence over Counties Manukau, Wellington then turned the tables on the defending champions in the last match of the round, Canterbury going down 60-14.

Elsewhere there were plenty of tense match ups and the race for the Duane Monkley Medal continues to excite, Northland's Jack Goodhue leading the charge.
