Queensland Country were too strong for the Melbourne Rising with a 54-12 victory at Bond University on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

A hat-trick from winger Filipo Dangunu, including two conversions, inspired Country to an eight-tries-to-two win in warm conditions in the fifth round of the 2017 National Rugby Championship.

After holding the Rising scoreless at half-time, the hosts piled on 40 points in the second-half to send Country to the top of the NRC ladder with four rounds to play.
