Touch down in Tasmania!! We are very happy lads Our final day paddling the 23km across Banks Strait providing some interesting moments, including a large cargo ship ploughing our way that never replied our communications via our VHF radios. Alas, we changed course, waited back, and let it go. Good call Ramsay. It's been an absolute pleasure to share a double kayak with Lovejoy for the journey and we continued our laughs and banter while fine tuning my cadence strokes. Simmonds again provided impeccable navigation today and maximised on the racing tides across Banks Strait, and the nor east winds, to stream line our paddle time. It was wonderful to arrive at Little Musselroe Bay around 1330 to some large friendly smiles from Jodi, Marty and Anthea, who assisted to get our motor vehicle to our finish point. Too many folk to thank right now but a quick shout out to Nightingale, Fitsfurball, Moss, Colette Richards and Sorrentino for your help. Thanks a stack.

There’s a stunning South Island road trip waiting.
Great to be back in phone range, and with a bit of mobile phone power, thanks to Lovejoy solar panel and battery kit. We have continued our 'island hop' down the western side of Flinders Island in great weather and are now snuggled up in the sand dunes on the southern tip of Clarke Island. We will sit it out here for a couple days as a high pressure system arrives and brings with it some unstable weather not good fur sea kayaking. At times, when the cloud clears, we can see the wonderful wind farms generating renewable energy on Tasmania, just 23km south from our current camp. May energy forms like this continue to grow around the world, and coal fired power stations decease in use. The last two days paddling have been superb and plenty scenic. No snakes have been seen and other than some nagging chaff, we are pretty fit and well. All going well with weather, we will paddle across Banks Strait on Monday 18 April and finally get to touch some Tasmanian soil. See some photos below, from land based adventures. We have lots of paddling photos on our waterproof cameras and will upload at a later stage. Thanks for everyone's support in so so many ways, from donations to kind words, to tips on Bass Strait to whispering kind wishes for good paddling weather. Au revoir for now

2016 Slalom NTS New Zealand Tour A great two days of paddling for the athletes. A river trip yesterday down Roaring Meg with 30 Kiwi paddlers. The water was high and fast moving. Beautiful scenery and a great experience. Lots of smiles! Today is the first day of practice on Tekapo Whitewater, the site of the New Zealand Nationals. A few band aids for toes, fingers, boats and paddles but all improving with each run.
