GREG HODNETT & DUANE HOWARD SHARE JERSEY RUSH V VICTORIES IN DOUBLE HEADER THRILLER TUESDAY NIGHT AT NEW EGYPT

New Egypt, NJ   August 25, 2015   . . . . .  The fifth running of the JERSEY RUSH, on Tuesday night, at the New Egypt Speedway was nothing short of spectacular with Greg Hodnett winning a thriller over JJ Grasso and Duane Howard beating out Billy Pauch Jr. to win the modified feature.    Hodnett of Thomasville, PA led all thirty laps of the 410 sprint feature but was pressured throughout the second half of the race, with Grasso in the hunt.  Hodnett earned $5,000 for the victory, his first ever 410 sprint car win at New Egypt.   The thirty lap modified feature saw Jimmy Horton lead at the outset, with Billy Pauch holding the top spot until Duane Howard took the lead on lap nine.   Pauch Jr. moved on top on lap seventeen with Howard leading the final two lap to earn the $3,000 first place prize.

In the 410 Sprint Car feature event, Hodnett launched from the top starting spot with Robbie Stillwaggon right on his tail and Davey Sammons moving into the third position.  Kunkletown, PA’s Ryan Smith -- while in the seventh position --- launched over the wheel of another competitor and flipped, spectacularly, over the turn four guardrail landing between the guardrail and the catch fence.  Smith walked away uninjured.  After a twenty minute delay in the action to remove Smith’s car, Hodnett took control on the restart with Lance Dewease powering into the second position and former two-time Jersey Rush winner, JJ Grasso moving into the third position.  Dewease and Grasso battled back and forth swapping the second spot leading just passed the halfway point.  Grasso, on a tear, battled in between lapped cars and gained quickly on Hodnett, challenging the leader as the five-to-go signal approached – and pulling alongside Hodnett in the closing laps of the event, but it was Hodnett capturing the checkered flag over Grasso, Davey Sammons in third, Danny Dietrich in fourth and Lance Dewease rounding out the top 5.

Neshanic, NJ’s Jimmy Horton started on the pole for the 30-lap Modified feature event and took the early lead battling with Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy Pauch.  Pauch, aboard a potent big-block machine, powered to the top spot at the fourth circuit, as Oley, PA’s Duane Howard moved into the second position with ‘The Ringoes Rocket’ Ryan Godown charging to the third spot – from the nineteenth starting position.  A lap nine restart shuffled the top runners with Howard taking over the lead and Billy Pauch Jr. moved into the second position with a hard-charging, Neal Williams challenging for the third spot.  A two car battle for the lead ensued with Pauch Jr. and Duane Howard shuffling the top spot back and forth in lapped traffic.  Howard, using a lapped car to his advantage, slid underneath Pauch Jr. with two lapped to go and went on to collect the $3,000 top prize.  Pauch Jr. settled for second, Neal Williams in third, Billy Pauch in fourth and Danny Bouc in fifth.

A field of twenty-six 410 sprints took time trials with defending winner Ryan Smith earning a $100 bonus for setting fast time with a time of 13.785.    Oliver Communications posted $200 to the heat race winners with Danny Dietrich, Greg Hodnett and Steve Buckwalter taking the sprint car heat wins, Modified heats were won by Billy Pauch Jr., Duane Howard and Billy Pauch.  Consolations were won by Mike Haggenbottom in the Sprints and Ryan Godown in the Modifieds.  The Thayer Performance Hard Charger award was won by Mark Bitner.

DANNY DIETRICH, GREG HODNETT, & LUCAS WOLFE AMONG HIGH POWERED 410 SPRINT PRE-ENTRIES

Race fans are abuzz as anticipation builds for the only combined appearance of the top divisions of the region – the 410 Sprint Cars and the Modifieds – together in one event at Ocean County, NJ’s New Egypt Speedway on Tuesday, August 25.  Driver entries are pouring in and the cream of the crop are Garden State bound for the NAPA Auto Parts & Pioneer Pole Buildings Jersey Rush V.

While the competitors prepare for action, race fans have an early opportunity to enjoy some fun with a pre-race pit party from 5 PM – 6 PM.  Fans will be able to enter the pits from New Egypt’s turn-4 Victory Lane and see the sights and hear the sounds of race teams preparing for battle and get autographs from the area’s top drivers.

Among the competitors is Gettyburg, PA’s Danny Dietrich.  The man they call ‘Double D’ has been on a hot streak of late, claiming major wins at Grandview Speedway’s Inaugural Thunder Cup and the Williams Grove Raceway’s World of Outlaws Summer Nationals.  Dietrich, fresh off of a Knoxville Nationals A-Main performance, has momentum on his side heading into Jersey Rush V.  Dietrich thrilled the fans recently making a late race move to win the Thunder Cup at the Grandview Speedway in late July.

Thomasville, PA’s Greg Hodnett, the current Central PA Sprint Car Series Point Series leader, is easily a favorite going into Tuesday, August 25.  Hodnett has proven that he is ultra-fast, especially when it comes to non-traditional sprint car tracks – having scooped up 4 of the last 5 Thunder on the Hill races at Grandview Speedway, another speedway unfamiliar to many sprint drivers.

The Jersey Rush is known for unpredictable finishes, as well as, first time winners.  In 2014, Ryan Smith of Kunkletown, PA claimed his first ever 410 victory and in 2011, JJ Grasso of Middletown, DE did the same thing – both have gone on to win multiple events, but claiming your first at New Egypt Speedway is always meaningful.  Plenty of drivers on the cusp of their first 410 victory will be in action on Tuesday, August 25 including: Davie Franek – who has claimed 360 Sprint Car wins at New Egypt, Kyle Reinhardt, Robbie Stillwaggon, Brandon Rahmer, Tyler Ross and Freddie Rahmer Jr.

Competitors will Time Trial to determine their starting spot in a 10 lap qualifying event, with an invert making things more interesting.  The top two finishers in each qualifying event will re-draw along with the three fastest qualified cars to determine the starting positions in the A-Main.  The remainder of the field will be determined in a 12 lap B-Main event.

The lucrative payout will offer a $5,000 to win, $1,000 for tenth position and $400 to start.

Sprint Drivers are encouraged to pre-enter for this event.  Entry fee includes 3 Pit Passes (driver and 2 crew members), plus 3 EG Tire & Auto Center Pre-Race BBQ Tickets (4-5 PM) for the fee of $50.

Also in action, the Big Block Modifieds will compete with a standard body package, whereas, Small Block Modifieds will have the option to compete with the popular sail panels.  The 30 lap event will offer a $3,000 top prize to competitors, $1,000 for fifth, $350 for tenth and $175 to start.

Modified competitors will draw for Heat Race Groups, and participate in timed Warm-Ups with that group.  The heat races will be lined-up based on time with an invert of 4 positions.  The top qualifiers in heat race action with re-draw for the A-Main Starting positions.

Modified drivers are encouraged to pre-enter for this event.  There is no cost to pre-enter, but pre-entered drivers will receive a free pit pass.

General Admission ticket pricing for Tuesday, August 25 is $30 for Adults, Children 6-11 are $10 and Kids 5 & under are FREE! Pit Admission pricing is $35 and no license is required.

These are the sights and sounds of the fastest cars in dirt track racing and they come together on Tuesday, August 25 when NAPA Auto Parts and Pioneer Pole Buildings present JERSEY RUSH V.  As part of this thrilling double header the 410 Sprint Cars and the Modifieds –the region’s two most popular divisions -- make a rare joint appearance at the New Egypt Speedway.   Gates will open at 5 PM plus a free Pit Side Meet & Greet will take place from 5 to 6 PM.  Racing action will take the green flag at 7:30 PM.  New Egypt Speedway is located on Route 539 in New Egypt, NJ.  This event is presented by NAPA Auto Parts and Pioneer Pole Buildings.

Drivers like Greg Hodnett, Lucas Wolfe, Lance Dewease, Freddie Rahmer, Kyle Reinhart  and recent Thunder on the Hill feature winner “Double D” Danny Dietrich  are probable competitors challenging for over $25,000 in prize money.  The lucrative payout will offer a $5,000 to win, $1,000 for tenth position and $400 to start.

A unique rules package will highlight the Modified event – Big Block Modifieds will compete with a standard body package, whereas, Small Block Modifieds will have the option to compete with the popular sail panels.  The 30 lap event will offer a $3,000 top prize to competitors.

New Egypt Speedway’s winningest driver, Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy Pauch has claimed victories in three of the past four JERSEY RUSH events but with expected entries from Ryan Godown, Jimmy Blewett, Jimmy Horton and Duane Howard the event winner will certainly be able to say he earned his prize money.

NAPA AUTO PARTS & PIONEER POLE BUILDINGS PRESENT:

THE RETURN OF THE JERSEY RUSH TO NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY TUESDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 25

The roar of engines, the rush of adrenaline and the thrill of action fill New Egypt Speedway on Tuesday, August 25 as NAPA Auto Parts and Pioneer Pole Buildings present JERSEY RUSH V -- a double header event that will see the fastest cars on dirt, the 410 Sprint Cars and the mighty Modifieds, in a Small-Block/Big-Block challenge, compete at New Jersey’s D-shape half-mile clay oval.

For the past four years, JERSEY RUSH has become one of the most anticipated events of the racing season both on and off the track.

JERSEY RUSH offers a unique pre-race Meet & Greet where race fans are invited into the pit area from 5 to 6 PM.  Race fans are encouraged to come early, get an autograph from their favorite drivers and catch a glimpse of the high-speed equipment before it enters the night’s competition.  Coupled with a night full of fan interaction – contests, games, prizes and give-a-ways are a highlight of every attendees evening.

On the track, the action is fast and fierce.  With a possible winner’s share of $5,000 up for grabs in the 410 Sprint Car division and a $3,000 pot for the Modifieds – JERSEY RUSH plays host to some of the tightest, wheel-banging competition you’ll ever witness.

In 2014, twenty-six year old Ryan Smith held off a hard late race charge from Lucas Wolfe to claim the $5,000 top-prize and his first career 410 Sprint Car victory.   Previous race winners include: JJ Grasso (2011 & 2013) and Daryn Pittman (2012).

The sprint cars will compete in time trials to determine qualifying event starting positions.  Top qualifiers from heat races will re-draw, along with the 3 fastest qualified cars based on time.  The B-Main will round out the 24 car field for the 30 lap A-Main.

While fresh faces have filled 410 Victory Lane for the Big-Block/Small-Block Modifieds two of New Jersey’s greatest have dominated JERSEY RUSH action.  Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy ‘The Kid’ Pauch and Neshanic, NJ’s Jimmy Horton have split the four previous JERSEY RUSH events– with Pauch winning in 2011, 2013 & 2014 and Horton claiming the 2012 event.  The Modifieds offer a unique event rules package where sail panels are permitted for the Small-Blocks while the Big-Blocks must conform to standard body rules.

Drivers are encouraged to pre-enter for this event.  Entry fee includes 3 Pit Passes (driver and 2 crew members), plus 3 EG Tire & Auto Center Pre-Race BBQ Tickets (4-5 PM) for the fee of $50.
